two to three tailored layout options
We’ve designed this service to make it easy to explore ideas before committing to full design development. It gives you clarity on what’s possible, how spaces could work, and what level of intervention makes sense for your home.
what is this service?
A concept planning service designed to explore the potential of your home before you commit to a larger project.
We rethink your layout to improve flow, light, and how the space works for your lifestyle.
This is about understanding what is possible, not jumping straight into building work.
why is this useful?
By carefully reworking what you already have, we can improve how rooms connect, bring more natural light into the plan, create better views out and make spaces work around your daily routine.
We can also explore whether an extension is needed, and if so, where it genuinely adds value to your lifestyle and home.

our approach
We design around how your home feels to live in, not just how it looks on a plan.
We think about:
-
How you move through the house
-
Where you naturally spend time
-
How spaces connect visually and physically
-
Where light enters and how it travels
-
How family life and entertaining overlap
Architecture and interiors are considered together so the result feels cohesive from the start.

What works, what does not, and how you want the space to feel and function.
3. We explore the options
We test a range of ideas from simple changes to more significant layout shifts.

three completely different ways to live in it.

the existing house
The house felt disconnected and compartmentalised. Rooms were awkward, with no clear purpose or relationship to each other or the garden. There was no natural flow from one space to another and the ground floor didn’t function well for daily family life.

option 01: opening up what is already there
The kitchen remains in its existing location but opens into the dining room, creating a brighter, more family-friendly space with a clear connection to the garden. A new large pantry, with open shelving, extends from the kitchen, while a boot room and everyday entrance provide a practical space for muddy boots and school shoes.
The living room is rearranged and zoned to create a formal sitting area with views to the garden, alongside a generous seating area for family TV time.
Entering through the front door, the existing bathroom has been removed and the old window replaced with a floor-to-ceiling fixed window, giving an immediate view of the garden as you walk in.
Spaces either side of this window are opened up with glazed screens, creating a visual link to the playroom while keeping areas separate.
The oversized study has been reduced in size and made more functional, allowing space for a WC and a guest coat area.

option 02: moving the kitchen to the heart of the home
The kitchen is relocated to the rear of the house, opening fully onto the garden and creating the home’s heart. Most of the kitchen serves as a beautiful ‘show’ space, with a large island that feels more like a dining table than a bulky unit. A connected ‘back’ kitchen provides a discreet space for everyday clutter or items to tuck away when entertaining.
The living room becomes a large family living and dining area, seamlessly linking to the kitchen. As with Option 1, the existing bathroom is removed, and a new laundry cupboard at the base of the stairs creates a warm, enclosed space with easy access to the first floor for bringing laundry down.

option 03: improving the connection to the garden
The kitchen moves into the existing living area, which has the strongest connection to the garden through large sliding doors. A long kitchen run and generous island are paired with a full wall of tall joinery and a walk-in pantry extending slightly into the rarely used garage.
A spacious bootroom with a bench leads through to a laundry/utility, ideal for dropping football kits and other washing on the way in. The former kitchen and dining space is opened up to create two connected living zones: a formal area facing the garden for relaxing, reading, or entertaining, and a cozy snug for family downtime. The spaces flow into each other, perfect for large family gatherings.
