Replacing a dated conservatory, this warm and spacious extension brings openness, light, and everyday practicality to the heart of the home—uniting old and new with care and precision.

Crisp timber cladding, a brick plinth to match the existing house and slimline eaves give the extension a clean, contemporary character. A glazed link forms a subtle transition between the old house and the new addition, creating a modern bridge between the two structures.

Ahead of finalising the design, detailed visuals were produced to test material combinations and proportions, ensuring the extension felt balanced and harmonious alongside the existing building.

Generous bifold doors to the side and a large picture window to the rear flood the new space with natural light and connect it directly to the garden.

To draw daylight deeper into the plan without compromising privacy—or highlighting less appealing views—obscure glazed side windows were introduced. These carefully placed panels diffuse light into the centre of the home, creating a soft, calm glow while maintaining a sense of seclusion.

A bespoke media bench sits against the obscure glazed windows, integrating storage, display shelving, and media housing in one tailored piece. By framing the incoming light and keeping sightlines clear, it combines practicality with a refined focal point that sits comfortably within the extension’s overall design.
