A woodland bungalow refurbishment with timber cladding and shingled extension, designed to draw in light, create lofty interiors, and harmonise with its garden and surroundings.

This project uses timber as a unifying thread, with the original bungalow clad in vertical boards and the new extension expressed in shingles for contrast.

Together, the two treatments unify old and new, complement the woodland setting, and give the extension a contemporary character.

The kitchen, living, and dining extension is angled to maximise light, with an asymmetric roof lifting the interior while lowering eaves at the boundary to reduce the impact on the neighbour's garden.

Stepping down from the existing bungalow, the extension sits naturally within the landscape, while a loft extension—currently under development—will add extra living space.
