This 3,000 sqft house in the New Forest suffered from an awkward layout and underused spaces. The project set out to reimagine the home through thoughtful structural changes and timeless design, creating a bright, flowing, and comfortable family space.

One of the most significant moves was relocating the kitchen and living area into the sunniest spot of the house. By opening up a rarely used bedroom that overlooked the garden, this space became a light-filled, welcoming hub at the heart of the home —perfect for family life.

Throughout the house, a modern classical style brings a timeless quality. Bespoke touches, such as a custom joinery kitchen island and glazed panels and doors, elevate everyday spaces and add a crafted feel.

A bespoke curved bench was designed for the new sun room, doubling as both seating and discreet storage. The upholstered cushion lifts to reveal a hidden projector and screen, allowing the space to be used for watching films and TV without any visual clutter when not in use. The bench creates a comfortable daybed for stretching out in the sun and enjoying views of the garden, blending practicality with a relaxed, inviting atmosphere.

The original entrance hall was long, narrow, and out of scale with the rest of the property. To resolve this, the central dining room was reconfigured into a larger entrance hall, with the front door repositioned to the middle of the house for a more balanced and generous arrival. A new staircase was installed in the existing position, now connecting directly with this improved entrance space.

A full rewire and lighting redesign have further changed the atmosphere, combining warm, inviting light with practical solutions tailored to the new layout.

This ongoing project combines architectural and interior design services to unlock the true potential of a house that once struggled with its scale. The result will be a home with improved flow, abundant natural light, and carefully detailed finishes.
